Our Green God

God is Dead. Or at least the God that we're taught to worship at a young age. A new God has taken His place, a God that much more selfish and much more demanding. This God has taken the reigns to our previous Gods' Castle. This God gets worshipped far more often than our previous God.
This God doesn't have a gender. This God is neither Father nor Mother but Creator. This God does not watch over us from the Heavens. This God controls us from our pockets and wallets.
This God is Green and virtually weightless. This God is easily seen and there is plenty of proof that they exist. There is no debate that this God Exists. There is proof everywhere we go that this God exists.
This God is a little piece of green paper that claims a worth. This God is money. We praise and worship this God every single day.
Think about it like this, why do we wake up in the morning? Either to go to school - if you're school age, obviously, or to go to work. Why do we go to work? To make money, why do we make money? Not only to live but to satiate our material needs. In this particular Blog, I am mainly speaking of North America. The United States to be exact.
America has become a nation ruled by money, we want, want, want and take, take, take. We live for money, we'd die for money, we'd kill for money, we would do some really strange things for money. We sacrifice our family and friends for money. We worship this money by valuing it so much. At the end of the day, it's just a piece of paper. A piece of paper the government said has worth.
Think about how ridiculous that sounds. Our daily lives revolve around this piece of paper. This God is selfish and demanding because it controls you, it possesses you, it overruns you. We are desperate for money, I'm no exception. Granted, I value it for a different reason. I value it to be able to live in this corrupt place.
There are others that value it for the same reason but for the most part all we care about - as Americans - is how much of it we have or don't have. You have a special status if you have a lot of it. You have no status - virtually no rights - and are frowned upon if you don't have it. You are looked at like you are nothing more than an inconvenient speck of dirt on a brand new white carpet.
You must be eliminated or at least made invisible. Nobody respects you if you don't have money. You are actually more victimized if you have no money, you are a target. No one will admit to it, but there is proof everywhere.
How many stories have you heard of police battery? Guess what the status of most of those who were victims was...I'll give you a minute...if you said poor you are absolutely correct. Most of those who were victimized by police brutality were either poor or generally low income.
Thanks to my schooling I am now aware of many more incidents that have gone unnoticed due to the status of the individual. Low-income and African American. No one hears about those stories because nobody knows, only the victims and the one victimizing individuals know what's going on unless the victim has reached out to a family member or friend. It's not important enough to display, it just gives authorities a bad image, but honestly we need to understand that there is so much corruption in our system and that it's getting to a point where something needs to be done about it. We need to cut the corruption at it's root.
Many have even tried to reach out to higher authorities but their cases were closed thanks to the blue curtain. If you are not familiar with the term, it is one of the many terms used to describe the level of protection officials - such as officers, firemen, etc. - have due to their status of a part of the law enforcers.
But that is a completely different blog that you can read later, right now, the main focus is the worship of this Green God. There was once a time that money didn't exist, the only means they had of getting the goods and services they need were trading. They traded their own goods and services in return for other goods and services. There was even a point in time where money was virtually worthless due to the drastic state that America was in. The American bill lost value almost completely, granted it wasn't for too long.
I am almost ashamed of being an American, not because I don't appreciate the freedoms I have but because America has become so corrupt because of this Green God, this Green God isn't a kind God, this God is similar to the renditions of the devil. Manipulative, demanding, Cruel, Heartless, Sadistic. This God loves to watch us attack each other, our own family, our own friends, our own community.
The things we do for a little slice of God astounds me. It sickens me. It revolts me. This isn't how America was supposed to be. America was supposed to be an opportunity for a better life, how is it an opportunity for a better life if we're forced to work 40+ hours a week and end up with a paycheck that we can barely live off of.
We should care more about each other than we do about a piece of paper that will be gone almost as soon as it's received, but that's not at all how it is. We ignore our family and friends if we have money or if they can't provide us with money.
Think of how many times you've seen it be shown on television that the only reason grandchildren have anything to do with their grandparents is when their grandparents have something to give, be it money or material goods. 'Grandma always spoils.'
There are children out there who are growing up to ignore their parents because their parents won't give them any money! The people who raised them from diaper days to broken hearts! There are so many people that just decide to stop talking to their parents once their parents are no longer providing.
I understand bad relationships but family should be one of the most important things in your life. They are your blood and I know the first instinct to this is that blood isn't always thicker. I understand that, trust me, I've been through some things but that doesn't make it alright to only contact them for things you need.
Our Green God has also destroyed our politics and our government systems. Money buys you votes for politicians, money buys you "Get out of jail free cards." As long as you have money in America, you can do anything. That's what America has turned into. America used to rely on tradition and building relationships, now it relies on our Green God. No one but our Green God rules America.
Money may be there when you're all alone in the future but it will not bring you complete happiness. No, in order to experience true and complete happiness, you need friends, you need family, you need acquaintances, you need mentors, teachers, sisters, brothers. You need love, compassion, care, the touch of another human being.
Humans are social creatures and Money cannot satisfy those social needs. It may be able to "buy" you "friends" but once the money has been paid out, who do you have but yourself and more of the Green God?
