Once Upon a Time...

Once upon a time, I thought that I was going to fail in life. Once upon a time, I believed the harsh words thrown at me, that I was never going to amount to anything, that I won't make it through life. Once upon a time, I was so depressed, that all I did was sleep, work, and go to class. I didn't eat, I barely drank, I barely did much of anything. Once upon a time, I thought that I wasn't going to make it in life. But opportunities come and go, time flies by. They say good things happen to those who wait, but that isn't true.
No, good things happen to those who want their lives to be more and are willing to do something about it. Good things happen when you dream and when you don't stop dreaming, even when you feel like your drowning or when you feel like you've been cut off from the world.
I was down at one point, but then I started dreaming, dreaming more vividly, dreaming louder, I had to push myself to want something to become of my life. You have to want it, in order to get it. If you don't want it and you don't do anything to get it, you'll never achieve greatness, you'll be jumping from one part-time job to another.
Something wonderful happened today. Or rather, something wonderful happened recently, it took more than a day. I've recently gotten a pretty decent job - the employers treat me right, they respect me, they appreciate me, the pay isn't crap - and just today I got an internship set for myself.
It's not entirely based on my major but it's one of my many dreams, it's a small and modest dream but it's a dream. If I had any advice to give, I'd say start with small dreams. Dreams that seem insignificant or silly to others, then build off of that dream.
Life is about the experience. It's not about how much money you have, it's about what you accomplished, what you learned, what you did to give back to the community. It's who you touched while you were living that life. It's about the lives you change or don't change. At the end of the day, it's about your happiness, you're own feeling of accomplishment.
It shouldn't matter what anyone else expects, it should only matter what you expect. Life is gonna throw you on the ground and beat you up some but you have to stand back up and defend yourself. Don't give up, just keep your head up and keep your voice strong. Work towards smaller goals and you'll reach your bigger goals.
